Northstar Behavioral Health

Northstar Behavioral Health (NBH) provides services focusing on supporting individuals diagnosed with opioid use disorder. They use science and evidence-based practices to serve as the industry-standard and thought leader supporting those suffering from opioid and stimulant dependency.

They came looking for a solution to a new standard that was put into place (the rule 25 assessment).

I was given a brief and had a stakeholder interview with the clients. The key areas that needed to be addressed were:

  • bringing “treatment to your own device”

  • ease of connecting to an assessment

  • meeting people where they are at on their journey

  • building a digital community

  • bringing the feeling of safety and empowerment to the individuals

With this information, I did a deep dive into the question of “ways to build a digital community” and brought my findings to my team.

From the results of the deep dive findings, a Strategy Guide was worked on and a Strategy Statement was created. Where a quote was focused on, from the secondary research-

Approach

With the findings from the stakeholder interview, brief, and brainstorming about a touchpoint strategy, it was decided that two areas will be the focus:

  1. A website that is accessible to anyone

  2. An app with a strong community aspect

This will be shown through two individual proto-personas.

  1. The Urgent pathway is someone who is in an immediate need of assistance. With these additional features:

    • Quick to access URL

    • Crisis Hotline

    • availability to schedule an immediate mobile assessment

  2. The Casual pathway is someone who will discover resources gradually. With these additional features:

    • faq available

    • anonymous chat feature

    • form to schedule an assessment

    • mobile

Outcome

With the two areas of interest and the two proto-personas in place, a Touchpoint map was created and decided what wireframing needed to be done. Along with wireframing, a proposal presentation and an annotated wireframe was created.

I completed the low-fidelity wireframes of the community feature and high-fidelity wireframing of the mobile-unit tracker page. As well as four annotated pages.

Conclusion

In conclusion, After the initial stakeholder meeting a touchpoint map was created. With this in place, I created high-fidelity wireframes and making sure to explain each step in an annotated wireframe.
